We are just back from a trip to see #1 son, in New Brunswick. It is really hard to get back into the grove again, after spending nearly 2 weeks as wanderers.
The other day, I just wanted to sew something. I wanted a quick fix, some instant gratification. So, I pulled out a dress that had been hanging in my closet for some time, unworn. I loved the fabric, but somehow the dress was not working for me. I made the dress a number of years ago, and I suspect it never worked for me, but for awhile, I was able to kid myself.
After a small amount of work, and the addition of some nice soft elastic, I now have a new skirt. Ta Da.
The fabric was an inexpensive rayon batik that I got at Fabricland. I washed it about 10 times to get the dye to all wash out, so it didn't run any more. The resulting fabric is lovely and soft, so the skirt hangs and drapes nicely. I wore it to my quilt group on Monday and got lots of positive comments. The fabric was meant to be a skirt.
Dolly the Wonder Dog was feeling neglected after the post about kittens, so I will post one of her vacation shots.
A classic New Brunswick shot, the big lobster in Shediac.
