Maybe spring has come. There are no snowflakes in the forecast for the next few days. My Forsythia looks like this.
A while ago, I asked my friend Maggie if she had an embroidery design for a Tooth Fairy bag. She found me one in her embroidery designs and stitched it out. I've been trying to figure out what the bag would look like, and decided on this.
When I was little the tooth fairy brought a dime. By the time my kids came along, Canada had a $1 coin, a loonie. So that is what they got. I decided with inflation that this bag should be able to hold a $20 bill. However, I have seeded it with a twoonie ($2 coin) in hopes of not bankrupting his parents.
I added a designer label.
A quick project suitable for MMM Quilts next DrEAMi collection!
$20!! I guess that's about right according to my grandson, egad. Yep we kids got a dime when we were losing teeth in the second half of the 60s. The pouch turned out so darling! I'm just about to write up the DrEAMi post (with your, well your cat, photo leading) which will publish tomorrow, Sunday since today was Step 2 for my annual QAL!
ReplyDeleteMy son told us that The One And Only Grandkid (7YO) gets $1 Ozzie. Not sure how that converts to Canadian.....about 85 cents, I think.....but it is a gold coloured coin. Love the Tooth Fairy bag!
ReplyDeleteBlimey, thats over £12! No idea what the going rate is here now, our grandaughter has passed that stage, but it was 6d, old pence, when I was little. Cute bag. xx
ReplyDeleteI envy you your forsythia! Mine hasn't even thought about blossoms yet -- though there *are* tiny buds... Cute bag! I think we gave our kids a quarter for teeth -- but "big" ones (front teeth) deserved loonies -- for the ones coming in as much as the ones going out!
ReplyDeleteYes, interesting how inflation affects us all. Hope he enjoys his new zipper pouch from Nana.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea your tooth fairy bag is! I don't really remember how much we got per tooth, but I do sort of remember just putting the tooth under my pillow. I guess it was pure luck it didn't get lost. I love the tag!
ReplyDeleteI can remember being excited to get a quarter for a tooth when I was little. Inflation has hit the tooth fairy hard, hasn't it? What a sweet bag and I'm sure the tooth fairy appreciated your seed money. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, all the heart eyes for that label!
ReplyDelete...in any case it's good that you thought of the parents :-) fantastic work you did.
ReplyDeleteI'm also in sewing fever: pants ready, shirt in the works, small bag in the works... wonderful... and outside it's green and blooming... Spring is so beautiful.
Hug to you. Viola
Oh what a good idea and a cute sew! I also love your label :-)
