Final Tinners Tuesday

Last January a group of twelve friends decided to each make one block for each member of the group, based on the fabric provided in the "tin" and theme suggested by the owner.

Eleven rotations have occurred and today, the "tins" were returned to their owners.

I had gotten a bit behind, so over the last few weeks I completed 3 blocks.

Garden Path, in Australian fabrics, for a "Down Under" theme.

A basket of posies, for the theme "Baskets". It is hand applique, something I seldom do.

A block with kittens, from a "tin" full of cat fabric. I have no idea if this block has a name, or if I made it up.

Now, for the big reveal of my blocks. My theme was "50 shades of Grey and Purple"

Aren't they all lovely? Now I will have to sew them together. The tops are to be finished by Easter. I think that is Easter 2014, although some of us were thinking 2015!

Another Tinner Tuesday

I have a cold, which is the only reason I can think for deciding to make a block with this many bias edges!

I did manage to get all my points to match (at least from this distance). :)

An Oriental Tinner

As our year of tinners nears completion, it is getting harder to make a block. Either somebody else already had the same idea as you did, or the pieces of fabric left in the "tin" won't work with your idea.
However, I think I pulled this one off.

I have no idea what this block is called. I saw it in a magazine I was looking at, while visiting a friend. I drew a picture of it in my book, and forgot to copy the name. However, it was a perfect match for the fabric, and I had the co-ordinating fabric in my stash.

Nelson's Victory

It was Tinner's Tuesday, and I made this block, called Nelson's Victory.

I like it, and it was quick and easy to do.

It was a beautiful day, the Tinners Ladies had a picnic. Not much hand work got done, the weather out on the deck was too nice for that, so we just sat and enjoyed the breeze and the company.

The weather has been rather nice lately, although there has been an occasional thunder storm. The gardens are looking great.

I was playing with my camera on the patio the other day.

Who wants to be indoors on days like this!

Tinners, Again

Yesterday was Tinners Tuesday. 

My box this month contained Purple Fabrics!!!!!

The owner had requested flower blocks.

The block is called Flower of Friendship and I found it on Quilter's Cache.
 I think it turned out rather well.

March Tinner

My March "Tinner" was due today. This month, the request was for a block done in 1930's fabric. Not among my favourites, but part of the exercise is to try working with someone else's favs.

Since we can add some of our own fabric, I added some kitty fabric (the only 30's fabric in my stash).

The block might be called "Road to California" or maybe "Wild Goose Chase", but I think this one is "Kitties on the Road to Bed". Solves the name problem.

I was going to show you my helper, but he made his getaway, before I could get the picture.

That was Finnegan, before he ran away!

A block for my tinners group.

For those that don't know, tinners is kind of like a block swap. You put some fabric in a container (tin) and each month the container is passed to another member of the group. Each member makes a block for you, from the fabric in the "tin", adding some from their stash, as required. My group has 12 members, so at the end of the rotation, we will each have 12 blocks.

This one came out a little busier than I expected...hmmm. Am I overthinking this?
